Mare Vaccination and Deworming
Prior to breeding: rabies vaccination
3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th month of pregnancy: Prestige EHV-1 vaccination to prevent abortion due to equine herpes virus infection.
2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th month of pregnancy: deworm with broad spectrum product such as ivermectin or pyrantel pamoate.
10th month of pregnancy: booster four way vaccine (EEE/WEE, Influenza and Tetanus) and West Nile Virus vaccine to provide high levels of antibodies to the foal in the colostrum; deworm with broad spectrum product.
